2022 NFL Draft Bets
There was a long time I completely nerded out on the NFL draft. I was in a dynasty league that required it to be competitive. Since that league folded a few years back, coupled with years of ineptitude by Raiders’ drafters, I don’t dive all in on the draft as much as I use to. But that doesn’t stop me from firing bets off. Where would be the fun in that. I won’t have time to break down these, but did want to post my running log of NFL draft bets. These have been placed over the last couple of … Continue reading 2022 NFL Draft Bets

The Turnpike Troubadours getting back together was a big deal in my world. No seriously, a big, big deal. The tour was announced. I knew I could not make Red Rocks happen this year. Cain’s sold out immediately. Cain’s is … Continue reading I Saw Miles and Miles Of Texas, and Other States

Branch on Fire: Indiana Whiskey Just Whiskey Cask Strength
The Indiana Bourbon Club did the March Madness thing for whiskey recently. You know, pit a bunch of local places against each other and have fans vote on champions. It is as unscientific as it gets, but generally fun. I have only had a few of these: Hotel Tango, Starlight and Indiana Whiskey. I have heard good things about Hard Truth and have been looking for that one. Seeing this reminded me I still have a couple of bottles I picked up at Indiana Whiskey in South Bend, so it is time for a proper write-up. Indiana Whiskey was started … Continue reading Branch on Fire: Indiana Whiskey Just Whiskey Cask Strength
Book Nook: Pappyland, by Wright Thompson
I’m just old enough to remember finding Pappy Van Winkle on the liquor store shelfs. I can still remember the last bottle I found in the wild. I was in Effingham, right when the Van Winkle boom was kicking up, and there was a bottle of Pappy 12 for $80. I snagged it. I drank it, not realizing at the time what was about to happen to the whiskey industry. The last time I drank Pappy 23 was the day I started my new job nearly three years ago. We were in Chicago for my training and we found a … Continue reading Book Nook: Pappyland, by Wright Thompson
Mike Trout Watch: HOF WAR
One of the things I like to do every year near baseball’s opening day is take a look at where Angels outfielder Mike Trout is on the career WAR list (Baseball-Reference). He currently sits at 76.1. Trout is coming off an injury year, which combined with the shortened 2020 means he has “only” added 3.6 WAR over the last two seasons. Before that, his worst year was 6.9. So, last year, Trout passed Hall-of-Famers Paul Molitor, Old Hoss Radbourn and Sam Crawford. Up next in the pecking order, among hall-of-famers. These are all within reach with an Average Trout year. … Continue reading Mike Trout Watch: HOF WAR
