CFB Championship Blog: Clemson vs. LSU

Here is what I’m reading ahead of tonight’s championship game between Clemson and LSU. Dabo vs. Coach O, and I’ve got Swinney’s Tigers +5.5. I thought the two best teams met in the semifinals, with Clemson clipping the Buckeyes. 538’s What To Watch For The Athletic’s Scouting LSU: What coaches who faced the Tigers say about the national championship finalists (paywall) Footballoutsiders’ Seventh Day Adventure: National Championship Preview Profootballfocus: 2020 NFL Draft: Top 10 prospects to watch in the National Championship Live Blog Missed the first couple of drives, finishing up my long walk for the day. NFL DFS Week 16

Here are this week’s Draftkings lineups I am rolling with. Playing two cash game lineups. One for main slate only, and one for a Sunday-Monday slate so I could hop aboard the Mike Boone bandwagon. I’m apparently hoping for a shootout in the Chargers-Raiders game, which pretty much guarantees a suckfest in that one. It’s tempting to bet the under 44.5 as a hedge. Oh, and the RB injuries allow me to finally afford Lamar again, despite a hefty salary. Continue reading NFL DFS Week 16

CFB Power Ratings–Pre-Bowl Season

Here are my pre-bowl season power ratings, with bowl games set to kick off Friday. And yeah, my top two power rated teams are playing each other in the semifinals. Note: these do not take into account players sitting out yet. As for coaches leaving, I don’t adjust much based on interim coaches. Since 2010, teams have performed right at their ATS numbers on average even with interim coaches. Rank Team IAW RTG 1 Ohio State 0.6 2 Clemson 2.1 3 LSU 4.4 4 Alabama 7.3 5 Georgia 10.1 6 Oklahoma 12.1 7 Utah 13.4 8 Michigan 13.6 9 Florida … Continue reading CFB Power Ratings–Pre-Bowl Season

NFL DFS Week 15

I’m only play head-to-heads this week, so just one lineup build. And a heavily-owned one at that. Watson, Carson, and McCaffrey are all looking like they will be north of 40 percent owned. The differentiation this week is going to come at the WR position, where there are a slew of 4-6K guys to choose from. Even with that, Conley and Westbrook both look to be near 20 percent owned. A Speech That Should Be Required Viewing For High School Graduation

Every college baskbetall season, we see the clip of Jimmy Valvano’s “Don’t Ever Give Up Speech from the 1993 ESPYs. The foundation continues to raise money for cancer research. They play clips frequently, but I whole-heartedly believe the entire speech, which checks in around 10 minutes, should be required viewing. Seriously, I watch it at least once a year. You should too. Even if you have seen it before. Watch it again. Then go live it. The rest takes care of itself. While you are at it, go watch Stuart Scott’s too, then wipe away the tears, come back and … Continue reading A Speech That Should Be Required Viewing For High School Graduation
