Tennis Aces Outdraw Lady Mules

Winning twice in singles action and twice in doubles action, the Fairfield Lady Mules suffered a 5-4 loss to the Mt. Carmel Lady Aces tennis team Thursday. Mt. Carmel took the top three singles matches, all in straight sets. Fairfield got on the board in the number four spot, with Lainie Milner winning in three, 6-3, 4-6, 10-7. College Football Week 2 Spreads

Got off to an 18-22 start overall, IAW spreads vs. Vegas spreads, including the games that were virtual ties tenths of points off. After a five-day opening weekend, we have games just on Friday and Saturday this week. Can we stop and appreciate that Illinois is a 20-point favorite on the road. Carbondale Beats Lady Mule Tennis, 6-3; Harvey Wins Twice

The Fairfield Lady Mules were doubled up Tuesday at home by visiting Carbondale, 6-3, in high school tennis action. Fairfield picked up two singles wins and one doubles win, with Karigan Harvey doubling up on victories. Harvey played in the number two singles slot and won a tiebreaker over Jessie Harper, 6-7, 6-1, 10-5. She then teamed with Brittany Titzer in doubles action for another tiebreaker win, 4-6, 6-2, 10-8, in the number two doubles match. McElravy Medals, Mules Master Aces

The Fairfield Mules picked up another duel golf win Tuesday afternoon, beating the host Mt.  Carmel Aces, 178-183. Junior Noah McElravy tied for medalist honors, shooting a 40 on the par-35 front nine. He tied Mt. Carmel’s Clayton Halbig for the low score on the day. McElravy had bogeys on six straight holes, two through seven, before sinking a birdie on eight. He shot par on holes one and nine. Maverick Conrad shot a 44 to finish second on the Mules, while Chase Hallam and Jacob Britt each shot 47 to round out the team score.
