Mules Take Care Of Business Against Winless Vienna

The Fairfield Mules’ steamroll through the Black Diamond Conference continued Friday with a 53-6 demolishing of the winless Vienna Eagles. The Mules scored 33 points in the first quarter, started the running clock in the second quarter and played shortened quarters in the second half. The Eagles only roster 17 players this year as they start the rebuilding process under first year coach Nick Bocook. The Mules went through something similar when head coach Justin Townsend took over in 2001. His first year was the last of four straight 1-8 seasons. Lady Mules Finish BDC Play Undefeated At 10-0; Big Clash On Deck In NCOE

Wrapping up an undefeated Black Diamond Conference season, Chet Snyder’s Fairfield Lady Mules knocked off visiting Carmi Thursday on Senior Night at the Mule Barn. Fairfield won in straight sets, 25-20, 26-24, fighting off challenges in both sets after early leads in both. That moved the Mules to 10-0 in the BDC-East, giving them the title outright for the first time since 2009. They have won conference 10 times since joining the BDC 17 years ago. The victory also moved the Lady Mules to 27-1 overall with their 18th straight win. This week’s IAW Power Ratings have been updated. Ohio St. continues to move closer to Alabama and further ahead of Clemson. Georgia falls to number six after the loss to South Carolina, but not as far behind as it might seem. They had four turnovers in a game they otherwise were the better team in.
