Eastern Michigan, Really?

weezel32

Eight point favorites at home, and they lost to Eastern Michigan. This is such an Illini thing to do. Eight-point road dogs winning are not exactly rare, but this one will almost assuredly shake things up. When I started my new job, I had to go back to using a Windows laptop. That also meant moving on from the far superior Macbook Pro trackpad and going back to a mouse. I haven’t used a mouse since 2012. I also use a glass-top bar for my desk, so I had to borrow a mouse pad from my coworker. I’ve used it … Continue reading Eastern Michigan, Really?

This Week in WTF Box Scores

weezel32

I scroll through box scores on occasion, looking for the weird and not repeatable. It helps to spot the outliers. One of my bets this week was Michigan State -14 vs Arizona State. They lost in heartbreaking fashion, making a game-thing FG before penalty negated it and then missed the retry. But it never should have been a game. The Spartans nearly doubled up ASU in yardage. They ran 22 more plays. They averaged 1.3 yards more per play. And scored seven points. ASU had a total of two scoring opportunities, and won. This gets an official WTF box score. Mule Runners Win Lawrenceville Invite

WIth five runners in the top 15, Justin Sanders’ Fairfield Mules won the Lawrenceville Invitational Saturday. The Mules finished with 35 points, followed by the host Indians in second with 45. Paris was third at 58 and Dieterich was fourth with 77. Five other teams had runners, but not a full team. Casey-Westfield’s Cort Ross won the boys’ race in 16 minutes, 2 seconds. Lawrenceville’s Brayden Green was a distant second at 17:25.3. Fairfield’s top finisher was Austin Schuster in fourth at 18:06.5. Mules Move to 3-0 With Third Straight Shutout

weezel32

Sometimes, stingy can be a positive. Case in point, the Fairfield Mules’ defense. For the third straight week to open the season, Justin Townsend’s Mules did not allow a point and the Mule Train kept rolling with a 36-0 road win in Chester. Fairfield moved to 3-0 with the win. And while the stinginess is a continuation of a trend this year, they can add greediness to the repertoire as well, as the defense got in on the scoring act with two defensive touchdowns and a safety on the night. That helped supplement what is a pedestrian offering for this … Continue reading Mules Move to 3-0 With Third Straight Shutout

NFL DFS Week 2

weezel32

Here we go for week 2. Made money last week with a 36% ROI gain. This week, we got cash on the left, GPP-only on the right. I tend to enter my cash in a GPP or two as well. Too many times of having my cash lineup go off and wishing I had it in a GPP, so I throw it in a cheap GPP most weeks. Cash-wise, Jacobs will be the most owned RB this week, and Waller the same at TE, as we try to take advantage of the Draftkings pricing coming out before the late Monday … Continue reading NFL DFS Week 2

The Pitch Six

weezel32

Here is the #pitchsix from the Mules game last night. Senior Cade Carter had the interception and return to midfield before pitching to teammate Wyatt Gilbert, who scored as the clock ran out to end the first half. Fairfield went on to a 36-0 win at Chester, improving to 3-0. College Football Week 3 Spreads

Last week, the system managed to go 25-19, despite a 1-9 start on Saturday’s games. That moves us to 47-43 overall. This week’s spreads are late to post, But I promise they were completed before the Friday games last night. I was 1-2 on those three anyway, with no bets on any of the three. Freshmen Mules Maul Tigers In Olney

weezel32

Traveling to Olney for nonconference action Thursday, the freshman Fairfield Mules football squad moved to 2-0 with a 28-14 triumph over the Tigers of Richland County. Fairfield scored the first 22 points of the game, holding the host offense in check until late in the third quarter. Fairfield took the opening kickoff and drove to the Richland County seven-yard line before fumbling. That just delayed their first score, which came early in the second when quarterback Eric Rodgers (not Joe, not Joe, not Joe) found a streaking Jonah Easton in the middle of the field behind the safety for a … Continue reading Freshmen Mules Maul Tigers In Olney

College Football Power Ratings–Week 3

weezel32

Here are my updated power ratings, heading into week 3 of the college season. Among the top 5, LSU moved ahead of Georgia this week and Ohio St moved ahead of Oklahoma. Michigan slid out of the top 10 after barely surviving Army. Since week one, I have improved Wisconsin’s power rating by 5.1 points, moving them to number seven this week. Michigan has dropped 4.7. Maryland has moved up 7.8 points. I have had sizeable drops for Nebraska (4.2), Florida St. (7.8), Virginia Tech (4.6) and Stanford (4.7) as well.
