College Football Week 5 Spreads

After going 28-20, the IAW projections are now 98-84 (53.9 percent). In the interest of cleaning this up on mobile browsers, I have removed the ratings and home field advantage from this post. Ratings can be found here. There is only one ranked vs. ranked matchup this week: Virginia at Notre Dame. Vegas has the line at 12.5, with is pretty much identical to my 12.7. I really thought Georgia would handle Notre Dame easily last week due to the size matchup up front. That did not happen. These are two teams that are pretty much what we thought they … Continue reading College Football Week 5 Spreads

It’s The Boss’ Birthday

No, not you Jasent. I’m not going to do the “it’s so-and-so artist’s birthday stuff here too often. There are other sites for that. But, as a sports writer, I am part of a profession that is widely considered to be the foremost experts on all things Springsteen. So, chime in here: What is your favorite Springsteen song? My offering to the factory worker gods is off his immortal album Nebraska. But it is not Atlantic City or State Trooper, both probably more widely regarded. Nope, I present to you: Also, had I realized over the weekend that Bruce’s birthday … Continue reading It’s The Boss’ Birthday

The Raiders Are In Indy! The Raiders Are In Indy?

I grew up an Oakland Raiders fan, or more accurately a Los Angeles Raiders fan at the time I became a fan. I had every NFL Film they put out. “The Autumn wind…” was my ringtone for a couple of years. I worshiped Marcus Allen. If a son ever were in my future, that would be his name. I still have the Jack Tatum jersey. I even had the Todd Marinovich one. One of my happiest days as a child was when Ronnie Lott became a Raider. But I’ve also became the guy who now declares you should root for … Continue reading The Raiders Are In Indy! Mules Keep Shutout Streak Alive; Beat Bearcats 42-0

The Christopher-Zeigler-Royalton Bearcats, coached by former NFL star Anthony Hargrove, have been at the bottom of the Black Diamond for several years now. But Hargrove looks to have them moving in the right direction, as they had allowed just 41 points in their first three games. Justin Townsend’s Fairfield Mules put up 42 on them Friday at the Train Yard, while the defense of the home squad kept their shutout streak going with their fourth in a row to start the season. Aired It Out Fairfield, typically a ground-and-pound attack on offense, went to the air 13 times, with junior … Continue reading Mules Keep Shutout Streak Alive; Beat Bearcats 42-0
