Tennis Mules Keep Busy

The Fairfield Lady Mules tennis team have stayed busy, including a Saturday showing in the Herrin Invitational. Lainie Milner had their best placing on the day, winning twice and finishing second in the number two singles bracket. She beat players from Benton and Herrin to win her pool, then lost to Marion in the championship. In doubles play, Karigan Harvey and Brittany Titzer picked up one win the number one doubles bracket. After going 28-20, the IAW projections are now 98-84 (53.9 percent). In the interest of cleaning this up on mobile browsers, I have removed the ratings and home field advantage from this post. The Fairfield Lady Mules tennis squad won twice in doubles play, but was swept in singles action last week and took a 7-3 loss to Carmi-White County. Mules Golf Splits Two Matchups

Taking on a solid Bulldog team, the Fairfield Mules suffered a golf loss Wednesday in Carmi, 142-180. Carmi had their top two golfers, Ty Barbre and Oakley Gee, tie for medalist honors Kacee Fulkerson and Kaden Karter both shot 38 to give the Bulldogs the four best scores on the day. Noise, they have made, as they have jumped out to a 17-1 record as they begin Black Diamond play. They are currently on an eight-match winning streak, including another tournament championship. The Christopher-Zeigler-Royalton Bearcats, coached by former NFL star Anthony Hargrove, have been at the bottom of the Black Diamond for several years now.
