NFL Draft Recap–Values and Reaches

I already live blogged round one Thursday night here, but wanted to circle back around and give some quick thoughts on values and reaches in each round. These are not really about finding perfect fits for needs or drafting someone without a need, but more about overall consensus needs. Round 1 Best Values 17. CeeDee Lamb, WR, Dallas Cowboys. The Oklahoma wideout was the #2 wide receiver on the consensus big board, number 9 overall, my personal #1 receiver and Footbball Outsider’s Playmaker champion this year. He was the third WR off the board at pick 17 to a team … Continue reading NFL Draft Recap–Values and Reaches

NFL Draft Live Blog

Video feed crashed, so I’m live blogging it. We’ll Do It Live! Bengals–Joe Burrow, QB. Bengals had to do this one or the fans may have rioted. I personally would have gone Chase Young, but I get it. Highest graded PFF QB season since they started grading (2014). #1 QB in Footballoutsider’s QBase as well. Bengals just have to hope the improvement was not because of Joe Brady, two first-round receivers and being a year or two older than most QB prospects. 2. Redskins–Chase Young, DE. It’s probably a good thing they are not in Vegas for this. If I … Continue reading NFL Draft Live Blog

NFL Christmas: I Am Weez Mock Draft

The NFL draft always feels special, even for those Raiders fans who suffered through the late Al Davis’ late years. With no sports for a month, and some (me) relegated to betting on home dart tournaments (don’t ask how that went), the draft feels needed this year. Back when I was in more dynasty leagues, I did more draft research than I have the last couple of years. That is not going to stop me from trying to sound smarter than I am with a mock draft, however. So, here goes… Cincinnati Bengals–Joe Burrow, QB, LSU. (2) Washington Redskins–Chase Young, … Continue reading NFL Christmas: I Am Weez Mock Draft

Kaizen: April 13-19, 2020

When I started my new training log book, I called it Ton of Fun, because one of my goals was a six-lift (squat, bench, clean, deadlift, press, snatch) of 2,000 pounds. When I started this latest journey, it was 1285. When you consider I have totalled more than 1,500 in a three-lift powerlift (squat, bench, deadlift), you start to understand some of the life choices I have made over the years. However, this week, I just changed the name to Kaizen, japanese for the concept of continuous improvement. It’s nothing original in the fitness world to adapt this word. Katrin … Continue reading Kaizen: April 13-19, 2020

The Book Nook–Dottir

My Journey To Becoming A Two-Time CrossFit Games Champion, by Katrin Davidsdottir Katrin Davidsdottir has been to the top of the mountain within her world, twice. As a two-time CrossFit Games champion, and a member of the Dottirs with Annie Thorsdottir and Sara Sigmundsdottir, her name is synonymous with badass females within the fitness world. My attention span with the Games had waned by the time Katrin had ascended to the top, so I was only tangentially aware of her story. Still, I followed her on Instagram, and saw her post about her autobiography. I decided to buy it. Admittedly, … Continue reading The Book Nook–Dottir

Mock Draft Season

WIth the NFL draft less than a week away, the mock drafts are flying. It is never a bad idea to look at a few, for a general sense of what is expected to happen. It doesn’t even take long to throw them in a spreadsheet. So, here is a spreadsheet: The mocks included are Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks with NFL.com, Mel Kiper and Todd McShay with ESPN, Kevin Hanson with Sports Illustrated, The Huddle Report’s Forrest Long, and DraftAce’s Ryan McCrystal. This will probably get updated Thursday, the day of the draft. It may even include the Weez … Continue reading Mock Draft Season
