Lady Mules Win Twice In Conference Play This Week

They did not play their sharpest game of the year, but an off night for the Fairfield Lady Mules is still good enough for a 25-12, 25-19 home conference win over Eldorado Thursday night. That was the second BDC win of the week for Chet Snyder’s squad, after they beat Hamilton County Tuesday on the road, 25-14, 25-11. Conrad Earns All-Conference Honors; Mules Fifth As Team At BDC Meet

Playing in West Frankfort Wednesday, the Fairfield Mules finished fifth in the Black Diamond Conference golf championships. Carmi won the boys meet with a 308, followed by Chester at 327 and Trico at 328. The Mules were fifth at 344. Chester’s Jarrett James won the individual conference championship with a 71, winning by two strokes. Hamilton County’s Kylie Vaughn shot a 69 to win the girls meet by 12 strokes. Mules Golf Wins Triangular

The Fairfield Mules golf squad won a triangular Monday, besting NCOE and Hardin County. The Mules combined for a 176 team score, with Harding County in second at 204 and NCOE in third at 205. Hardin County had the medalist at 38, but then their next best score on the team was a 52. For Fairfield, Maverick Conrad and Noah McElravy each shot 40s. Taking on a solid Bulldog team, the Fairfield Mules suffered a golf loss Wednesday in Carmi, 142-180. Carmi had their top two golfers, Ty Barbre and Oakley Gee, tie for medalist honors Kacee Fulkerson and Kaden Karter both shot 38 to give the Bulldogs the four best scores on the day. The Christopher-Zeigler-Royalton Bearcats, coached by former NFL star Anthony Hargrove, have been at the bottom of the Black Diamond for several years now. But Hargrove looks to have them moving in the right direction, as they had allowed just 41 points in their first three games. Mules Lose Tiebreaker To Aces; Playing Without Conrad

The Fairfield Mules golf squad were playing shorthanded at home Tuesday, but still tied the visiting Aces of Mt. Carmel. The away team won the tiebreaker, however, with a better fifth score. The Mules were without senior Maverick Conrad, out with a low back injury. Either Conrad or junior Noah McElravy has led the Mules scoring in every match this year.
