Conrad Earns All-Conference Honors; Mules Fifth As Team At BDC Meet

Playing in West Frankfort Wednesday, the Fairfield Mules finished fifth in the Black Diamond Conference golf championships.

Carmi won the boys meet with a 308, followed by Chester at 327 and Trico at 328. The Mules were fifth at 344.

Chester’s Jarrett James won the individual conference championship with a 71, winning by two strokes. Hamilton County’s Kylie Vaughn shot a 69 to win the girls meet by 12 strokes. That led the Lady Foxes to the team championship as well.

Mule junior Noah McElvavy just missed all-conference honors, placing ninth with a 79.

Rounding out the scores for Fairfield were: Jacob Britt, 94; Chase Hallam, 95; Noah Barger, 96; and Zach Gualdoni, 97.

Girls All-Conference

1, Kylie Vaughn, HamCo, 69. 2, Kylie Bunselmeyer, Trico, 81. 3, Bailey Stricklin, HamCo, 88. 3, Savanna Saeger, ZRC, 88. 5, Jaylee Glenn, HamCo, 89. 6, Chelsea Young, ZRC, 92. 6, Allie Gee, CWC, 92. 8, Teegan Stanley, Eldorado, 94.

The Lady Mules got a 110 from Katelyn Norton and a 114 from Sophia Wolfe.

Host Home Triangular

Fairfield was back in action Thursday at home, hosting NCOE and Richland County.

The Tigers won the day, with a 156. Fairfield followed with a 168 and NCOE finished third at 200.

Olney’s Zach Duenas shot a 37 for medalist honors, besting McElravy by one stroke. The junior Mules had birdies on holes one and four, both par-4s. He was done in by a snowman on the par-5 seventh.

Conrad and Barger both finished with 42s, while Hallam and Britt each shot a 46. Gualdoni shot a 47.

For the Lady Mules, Wolfe finished at 57 and Norton shot a 62.

The Mules have one more home match this year, as they will host Woodlawn and Vienna Monday. They will play in the Effingham Regional on Oct. 7.
