Mules Golf Splits Two Matchups

Taking on a solid Bulldog team, the Fairfield Mules suffered a golf loss Wednesday in Carmi, 142-180.

Carmi had their top two golfers, Ty Barbre and Oakley Gee, tie for medalist honors Kacee Fulkerson and Kaden Karter both shot 38 to give the Bulldogs the four best scores on the day.

Fairfield was led by Noah McElravy, who shot a 39. Noah Barger shot a 45, Chase Hallam and Jacob Britt each shot 48s and Zach Gualdoni shot a 50. McElravy started with a birdie, and shot par of seven of the other eight holes, but had to work around a nine on the par-4 fifth.

Katelyn Norton led the Lady Mules with a 50 and Sophia Wolfe shot a 60.

Clip Wolves

Fairfield was at Flora Friday for another duel match. They edged the host Wolves by one stroke, 172-173.

The Mules were bolstered by the return of senior Maverick Conrad, who shot a 39 for medalist honors. Conrad had been sitting out with a low back injury.

McElravy shot a 41, Barger shot a 45 and Britt shot a 47 to round out the team score. Hallam and Gualdoni both shot 50s. Will Lehman led Flora with a 40.

Conference Championships This Week

Fairfield is at NCOE Monday. On Wednesday, they will compete in the BDC championship meet at the Franklin County Country Club. On Thursday, they will host Richland County.
