Review: Captain America: Brave New World

Was able to catch this one in the theater over the weekend.

Enjoyed this one more than I think I was expecting to. Always enjoyed Papa Doc as the Falcon and I liked how they played him as the new Cap without trying to be the old Cap. It was kind of a big theme, and a smart choice. Especially liked the “serum or not to serum” debate.

Harrison Ford is starting to look every bit of his age, but that helps here. He is playing a guy who is a career asshole on the wrong side of a lot. Ford is able to play that with the proper weight and is believable as a changed man due to his age/experience.

Red Hulk was fun in its bit, and properly kept to a minimum.

Negatives: The actual villain was a bit weak and bad CGI. And even Gincarlo Esposito’s Sidewinder felt shallow and over the top.

All in all, a worthy addition. 3 of 5 stars.
