I’ve been riding the Starrett train for more than a decade now. From Kelly’s old YouTube mobility series to my current membership in The Ready State, I’ve heard him (and Juliet) preach their gospel in just about every format possible — videos, podcasts, webinars, you name it.
So when Built to Move dropped, I knew exactly what I was getting into. This was a quick read for me, more like a greatest-hits album than a groundbreaking new release. All the big tenets are here: the movement tests, the daily habits, the mobility drills. If you’ve been in the Starrettverse as long as I have, you’ve heard this material before — probably multiple times.
That said, if you’re new to their world, this book is a pretty perfect on-ramp. It’s concise, well-organized, and stripped of fluff. You’ll get the essentials without feeling overwhelmed, and you’ll come away with a clear action plan for moving better and living with less pain.
For me? It was a nice refresher, but nothing I hadn’t already bookmarked in my brain years ago.
Final score: 5 out of 10 stars.
