Fab Five Friday–Dec. 9, 2022

Here are this week’s five songs worth listening to. This installment will feature just two artists, simply because I am going to see them live in Indianapolis next week, and I can’t wait. I’ve featured both JR Carroll and Drayton Farley on this site before, but my blog, my rules. Oklahoma and Alabama, it’s not just for CFP semifinal blowouts.

JR Carroll–Red Fern

I listened to the solo acoustic version of this for a long time before the more fleshed out full sound version was released, but thought I would post the full band version here for the sake of, well, for the sake of.

Drayton Farley–Dreamer

This song was my introduction to Drayton.

JR Carroll–Don’t Lose Your Faith

Just making some front porch magic.

Drayton Farley–Blue Collar

From the porch to the back 40.

JR Carroll–Girl From A Song

I had decided I was going to the concert even if Sarah couldn’t. But she is able to make it, which makes me glad as I plan to serenade her with this one, assuming he plays it. And maybe even if he doesn’t. Apologies to the concert-goers near us.

We’ll be back with five more next week. Until then, remember the immortal words…
“Songs are really just interesting things to be doing with the air.” Tom Waits
