Training Log: Kaizen May 4-10

I have gotten into a pretty good routine these last few months. This week, I got slightly off routine, as we ripped up carpet, stained hard wood and painted walls this week. All of that also meant the kitchen is a mess as the living room got dispersed into three separate rooms, including the kitchen. That led to not cooking much this week. There was a little more alcohol this week, because you can’t do remodeling without beer. It’s in the Geneva Code.

I also had to adjust the workouts a bit this weekend. On Friday, I helped Sarah out with a video project she is putting together for her athletes this summer. I managed to strain my quad. I’m not sure if it was when I was demonstrating improper technique, or stepping wrong on a lunge, but I wound up skipping squat day in my rotation this week, as well as removing air squats and lunges from my bodyweight circuits. As I type this Monday morning, the quad is starting to feel better. I will reintroduce the bodyweight movements into the circuit this week and just wait until squats come back around in the rotation.

All in all, though, I still met my goals for the week, even if it meant knocking out a couple workouts at 9 p.m. this week. Weight was up a tad, but I’m not stressing over that. It happens.
