Two years ago, the Fairfield Lady Mules were upset in the Lions Den in Cisne near the end of the season. With that game in the back of their mind, Chet Snyder’s Lady Mules did avoided the trap following Tuesday’s big game in NCOE, and handled Leslie Cordill’s Lions, 25-17, 25-9.
Cisne, who entered with a 19-10 record, did not look intimidated by the 28-1 Lady Mules early on. They went toe-to-toe with them for 36 points, giving them their best shot and trailing just 19-17.
Fairfield scored the last six points of the first set, however, and like a boxer who failed to knock out an opponent with his best blow early, the Lions faded in the second set for a 25-17, 25-9 Fairfield win.

Cisne middle hitter Jocelyn Hall had five kills and a block in the opening set, lead the Lions to nine kills in the set, but they had just three kills in the second set.

Fairfield meanwhile, racked up 23 kills, led by six from Chloe Britton and five each from Leah Bowers and Jacklyn Simms. Callie Vaughan added four.
Fairfield won the serve receive game as well, not allowing a Cisne ace, while serving up six themselves. Nadia Reid, normally known for her work in the middle at the net, served four aces.

Hall finished with five kills and a block, while Bailey Lewis had four kills, Lauren Grace Conrad had two kills and Grace Milligan had one.
