Here are this week’s five songs worth listening to.
Red Clay Strays–De Me Wrong
Tell me this doesn’t ooze Bill Withers.
Wade Sapp–The Boys We Were ft. Colter Wall
Dirty Guv’nahs–Don’t Do It
I try not to include too many covers here, but the Dirty Guv’nahs are one of my favorite “still mostly undiscovered” bands, and The Band is, well, The Band, even when covering Marvin Gaye.
Drive-By Truckers–Welcome 2 Club XIII
One of my most repeated stories it about the week I saw The Last Waltz 40th Anniversary Show at the Ryman, DBT at the Ryman and a Steve Earle dinner show at City Winery on consecutive nights, and that DBT was the show of the week. That was before this song, but this one has the “I bet this is fun live” vibe.
Method Man–Guillotine
Meth is bad, mmmkay. Method Man is good.
We’ll be back with five more next week. Until then, remember the immortal words…
“Songs are really just interesting things to be doing with the air.” Tom Waits
