Competing in Olney Wednesday, Coach Brent Sutton’s Fairfield Mules finished third as a team in the four-team match, while senior Maverick Conrad finished in a three-way tie for low score on the day.
Conrad tied Charleston’s Taylor Drake and Richland County’s Mitchell Tolliver with a 39. Drake hit a triple bogey on the first hole, but shot pars on seven of the eight other holes. Conrad avoided any disastrous holes, shooting bogeys on holes three, four, six and eight, with pars on the other five holes.
Richland County won the meet with a team score of 165, with Charleston in second with a 171. The Trojans had one player disqualified, but that bumped their team score up just two strokes. Fairfield finished with a 181 and Teutopolis shot a 206.
Noah McElravy shot a 42 to finish tied for fifth overall. Noah Barger shot a 49, while Chase Hallam and Zach Gualdoni shot a 51. One day after running for the cross country squad in the Tom Wickham Invitational, Jacob Britt shot a 57 in Olney.
