Meet Me In Temecula

Where you be, Endangered Species?

Monday started the second half of this Cali trip, as we checked out of Disney and headed south to San Diego, via Temecula, one of the fastest growing wine areas of California. We were able to stop at two–Callaway for lunch and then Miramonte for a wine/food pairing/tour.

Lunch at Callaway was pork belly squares for me, along with a salad. We then did a tasting upstairs, where I went with three vintage wines. Quality over quantity on this one. There port was really good.

The Miramonte tour was fun, with our guide Sal doing a good job of making it fun, pouring several whites and reds for us and offering bite-size nibbles to show the two is stronger than one. My man Sal is getting ready to test for his level 2 sommelier certification.

After the tour, we got some more apps and then headed out.

Yeah, the views did not suck.

We tried to eat dinner at Stone Brewing north of San Diego, but the wait was too long, so we meandered the shop for a bit, bought some to-go brews and headed out.

Instead, we got checked in to the hotel in the Gaslamp district of San Diego and grabbed late night apps and beer at Half Door Brewing, right across the street from the hotel.

Did I mention we don’t suck at this?
