Here are this week’s five songs worth listening too.
Briston Maroney–Fool’s Gold
Indie rock-turned-troubadour at 21, Maroney has released a few EPs, and this one came out late in the summer. It has a serious Ryan Adams vibe to it.
"Every little truth turned into a big lie. Why do I try?
clipping–Nothing is Safe
Hip Hop rhymes over a neutered Halloween beat? Sure, why not.
North Mississippi Allstars–Call That Gone
I have a soft spot for delta blues, especially when it is dirty, so I’ve always had a thing for NMAS. I have not been able to see them live, but have caught an offshoot before, Hill Country Revue.
This one is funky and fuzzed. Ride the air on this live version.
Danny Brown, Run The Jewels–3 Tearz
Run The Jewels has been the best thing in Hip Hop the last few years. In your face, raw, unapologetical, but all with a social conscience and some serious back-and-forth flow. This team-up with Danny is no exception.
Yola–It Ain’t Easier
