Final training week before my competition, sort of.
Regular followers know I’ve been prepping for a powerlifting meet coming up this Saturday. So last week’s training was my final week of prep for that. Problem is, our area is currently getting plowed by this damn Covid outbreak. So, I made the decision this week to not compete in the meet Saturday. I’m doing my best to avoid crowds and avoid being part of the problem. Every conversation I have had recently with someone within the hospital field has been heartbreaking, and those conversations have been on my mind a lot.
I want my frontline worker friends to be able to go to work without wondering how many patients they will lose that day. I want schools to be able to stay open. I want sports to come back. I want live music. And I want to be able to hang out in a gym. I want all those things. And to do that, I’m willing to do my part by not doing things. I have been for quite some time now.
So, I won’t be doing the meet Saturday. I’m still working out a way to still test myself this week, whatever form that takes. I do these competitions every so often to give me something to train for. It is more about the journey than the destination, but a destination would still be nice. So, I’m working on how to best do this.
Anyway, here was my training for the week. I cranked down the volume, not doing much in the way of accessory lifts. And I have not worked out since Sunday as I take the week before and the week after off for recovery.
